    Lightbulb Getting Us Exposure

    Hey All,

I was just sitting here and watching Josh's video of the 2009 Champions (again, it must be about ten times ) and was thinking that we need to do more stuff to promote ourselves in the Central Valley. Last year we did one parade, the Belmont Concour's, and a couple of carshows. Since we are just beginning the new year and have the majority of the season setup, I would like to start promoting our Chapter.

    This is what I'm thinking.

    1. Parade's
Last year we had five cars entered in the Clovis Rodeo Parade and it was pretty cool to see all the kids and their expressions on their faces when we would rev our engines and do quick burnouts. I would like to get ahead start on all the Central Valley parade's for the year. I'm not saying that we go to every single one, but get a list of all the parades and see which ones we would like to be in.

    2. Carshow's
Ok, I know that the few carshow's that we did, didn't really workout as we had thought. But I do think we should re-think it. There is alot of potential in new people coming out and getting their feet wet in what we do.

    3. SFR
This has been talked about in the past and there is always a date issue, but I would like to get a few members together and head up north a few times this year to attend the Monthly Regional meeting. I'm willing to take a half day at work to make the meet.... Who's down to go?

    4. All the others....
Thad.. Thanks man for becoming a safety steward for Rally-x, Those of you that have showed interest in the fire safety, that awesome. It's great to see that alot of members showing interest in motorsports in general. Last year, Josh, Dan and myself when to LS and worked the road course for a FREE ENTRY into one of our auto-x events. It would be awesome to see more and more of us going and volunteering our time for free entries, plus getting to see some of the best grassroot's road racing in California.

Justin, can your get me information on all the parade's in the Central Valley? Also, on a monthly bases a list of carshow that you think we should have a booth at?

Ron, You did an awesome job last year for the Belmont Concours, can you get ahold of your contact and see if they want us back this year? If they do, I will start a new thread and see who is willing to help out.

Josh, oh great and powerful Josh , can you help me on getting us volunteer spots at LS for free track time.

If any of you (members) have thoughts, questions, or information... just let me know. I have a feeling that this could be one of our best years

    Thanks,
If you're not dragging cones.... You're not pushing hard enough!

theres an idea i read from sportscar magazine that i really liked, i was gonna bring it up at the meeting but i heldback

getting into contact with local schools like fresno city college, fresno state, even high schools and talk to their automotive teachers (auto repair, auto body) and get a member(s) to go and tell them a bit about ourselves. maybe to sweeten the offer, volunteer our cars to get worked on (hey a free alignment/maintenance/or paint job is always good right? my auto body teacher was always doing pro bono/freebie paint jobs so the students could get some experience) that way they get to work on what they like to do and learn about us at the same time. i mean if theres a chance we can get a few people in, its gonna be who are/or what to be in the automotive industry.
Save the cones!! Will someone think of the cones!!

    Tony,
Laguna Seca Volunteer Days for free autocross entry:

    <h2>2010 SFR Club Racing Schedule</h2>

    April 30-May 2 Double Regional #3 & #4 Laguna Seca
June 10-13 Test Day, Double Regional #5 & #6 Laguna Seca
Oct 22-24 Regional #13 & Enduro Laguna Seca
    Pro and Volunteer Support Events

May 20-23 ALMS Laguna Seca Aug 6-8 Pre-Historics Laguna Seca
Aug 12-15 Monterey Historics Laguna Seca
Oct 7-10 PRO - TBA Laguna Seca

I believe there was and maybe still is a requirement to work a Club event before working a Pro event.
A couple notes about volunteering. You must wear long pants and you must wear white pants and shirt. Also, a lanyard with whistle. If you think you want to attend one of these then you should attend the Safety Training Feb 20th.
Oh and at these event you can apply for your hard insurance waiver card if you have been a member for 1 year with crew listed on you membership card.
Hopefully in April I will post about the Club racing event to see who wants to go.

You can rest assured we will be back to the Concours this year. the organizers were very pleased with what we did last year.

I haven't had a chance to look through specifically, but I found some lists of car shows going on in California for 2010:

    http://www.carshownews.com/national/CA.htm
    http://www.californiacarclubs.com/schedule.htm
    http://www.centralvalleyclassics.com...ws/events.html

I am also currently tracking down various Central Valley car clubs and inviting them out to our Autox/Drift school as well as forwarding the 2010 season calendars over to them.

Also an update on media, I have sent out press releases to major news networks and inviting them to send an anchor to participate in our school free of charge as well.

    Corvettes of Bakersfield
    Golden State Corvettes
    Valley British Auto Club
