Interesting to note that most of the responses are from our older generation. Back in those days people enjoyed working
on their cars as much as driving them. There were only 3 levels of car prep. Stock, Prepared and Modified.

Lots of pics of Gene Hanchet's Camero, Bob/Charlotte's (Midget) and a few other national level drivers from those days. Fresno and the Central Valley has a long history of national caliber drivers. LOL - we were all so young then!!

We were so lucky to be part of such a great time. The Fresno group hung around all day long to help
each other out and cheer each other on and of course support each other when we didn't do so well.
In those days we didn't need "chiefs". We all pitched in where ever we were needed.

Those were the days before SCCA. How many car clubs were in the area? Does anyone remember the names? I was a member of the Austin Healey Owners Club.... but none of us owned an Austin Healey! We were mostly a rally club.

I was a member of the Rombusmen. (sp?) Didn't need a special kind of car, just an interest in cars. Also a rally club.

The ones I remember were Trans Am Sedans, Corvettes of Fresno, Kings Sports Car Club, Society of Foreign Sports Cars and Mid Cal.
When I started our Association had clubs from Modesto all the way down to Bakersfield.
