Well bad news for the events at Castle. A last minute bureaucracy issue has come up keeping us from being able to use the site. Scott told us to cancel the first two events. March 15th and April 4th. We are being put on hold because we are back under Merced County and not Castle Commerce so the paperwork does not transfer but instead needs to be completely re-drafted. Sorry to get your hopes up for the event but this decision was out of my hands. Scott did say that the event planned for April 26 MIGHT be a go because all of the paperwork should be taken car of by then.

Please take this information as a reminder we NEED alternate sites!!! Castles small lot is approx 400x600 and that is a bit small but do able. I will be discussing the issues of sites at the meeting this Monday the 16th. Please come to the meeting to help with the discussion of alternate sites.

I talked with Bryan Nemy at Marina on Sunday, and he said there was going to be a video conference with the powers that be at Castle on Tuesday. We were hoping that it would be good news about the large lot. Bummer! :(
Maybe I'll have some info on Crows landing next week.

We spoke a bit about Crow's Landing on the conference call. Scott says they just got their general aviation certificate which puts it in the same boat as Castle.

The autocross gods are not on our side this year :(

I find that hard to believe. The (Stanislaus) County's plans are to turn the area into a large truck to train transfer area. I think he is confused about this area.

They've been trying to push that for quite a while. I believe the issue was environmental impact of having several hundred trucks coming in and out of the area on a regular basis.

Scott said he had spoke with the management there and that it is a done deal.

Would be nice if it all fell through, maybe it could take Castle with it :)

Update:
Supervisors boost budget, approve airport plan (http://www.modbee.com/reports/westpark/story/603054.html)
The supervisors also approved a plan for a general aviation airport to be owned and operated by the county at the Crows Landing Air Facility. It would use one of the runways on the property, a former naval air base. The other runway would be used as part of the PCCP West Park LLC inland port and short haul rail system connecting the property to the Port of Oakland. West Park is proposing a 4,800-acre business and industrial park around the air facility.
The airport would be used by small private aircraft and over the next 20 years would be expanded to helicopters and corporate jets. A second parallel runway would be added as air traffic dictated, according to a staff report.
