So ive been wanting to check out other organizations & sites to run at. I haven't been to Marina & would like to try it out. I was thinking it would be cool if we could get a group to go & represent the Fresno chapter. Here's some of the dates I can make, if you are available & interested in going please post up which one(s).
March 14 - UFO @ Marina (http://www.norcalufo.org/main/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=106:norcalufoautox4mar1410&catid=34:autocross&Itemid=54)
April 18 - UFO @ Marina (http://www.norcalufo.org/main/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=107:norcalufoautox5apr1810&catid=34:autocross&Itemid=54)
June 6 - UFO @ Marina (http://www.norcalufo.org/main/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=110:norcalufoautox7jun610&catid=34:autocross&Itemid=54)
On the March date there will be a track event at California Speedway & the April date there will be track events at Buttonwillow. There is also event in Sac on June 6th & a track event at Buttonwillow. As far as I could see, these are the conflicts.

AAS will also hold events at Marina:
3/27 & 28
4/24 & 25
They are well known for having quality courses that allow big cars to enjoy the event (although that may not be your priority.) ;)
Marina is a good site with smooth grippy concrete when it isn't overblown with beach sand. Take a jacket even in June or July. It's a very good place to run and I only wish it were closer.
You might also want to try out Great America where both SFR and AAS are also running. SFR is there this Sunday.

Also be prepared for heavy traffic heading back toward the central valley if leaving Marina in the afternoon. Hwy 1, the 156 stretch to 101, and 101 north itself can all get backed up. Once off of 101 it seems to be fine.
Doesn't always happen, but if you need to be back home at a certain time be sure to allow for the possibility.

3/27 with AAS looks good for me.

First off this thread has a poll on going to Marina with UFO and not AAS. I am not saying no to AAS but I am saying the intent of this thread is getting off venu and date. If you want to do AAS on a different date than listed in this thread then I recommend starting a different thread to keep it clear where the details will go for that event. I am not trying to be pushy but just trying to keep things organized.
Back to the UFO at Marina as Daniel mentioned at the club meeting:
I would not suggest the 3/14 since I think that is daylight savings and will confuse some people making for a possible bad experience by screwing up the time.
As for April 18th it falls on the same weekend as ProSolo in El Toro according to SportsCar. I love the site because it is HUGE CONCRETE marine base.
This only leaves June 6th as my preffered option.
My vote June 6th.;)
Hope you get more people interested Daniel.

I know the back route from Marina to 101:D which saves time but you don't get to see the ocean if that matters. There will still be there slow sections on 101 unless you guys want a back road that is REALLY TWISTY BUMPY which cuts off out of Salinas and joins in just outside San Juan. Parts of this road have no center line:eek: but you keep moving without crawling on 101.;)

Actually, paved is a misnomer. It may have been paved in 1920, it's nothing but patches now. With modified suspensions - -!

I dont think I can make the March date since I might not have my tires by then.
As Josh said please feel free to make a new thread about running with different organizations. I will start to get confused otherwise :).

See you there, Charley.
And, if it's not inappropriate to mention -- the June 5 & 6th track days at BW will be my choice. I'm already running Marina on 4/17 and have been dreading the confusion of daylight savings time since last year's mayhem. :D

I only see 4 votes total on going to Marina, so does that mean nobody is intereested in going? I would really like to know because NCRC is having a track day that June weekend and if nobody is going to Marina then I might just go to Buttonwillow instead. I was already planning to do Buttonwillow Sunday and Marina Saturday, but I do not want to do both if I am going to be the only one goint to Marina.
Please vote as it is not a commitment but a general guideline on who wants to go.

Sorry to bail on going to Marina with you Daniel, but I NEED another track day. It has been to long since my last fix.

Ah the classic signs of someone hooked on speed. You are now an official 'track rat'.

^^$100, cheapest you'll find, other than their super low deal of $50. Should come out and ride along in some super fast rides.
