I'm getting ready to sign up for the SCCA but am curious as to how much the chapter dues are on top of the SCCA ones,
i understand i can get the First Gear membership for 45, but is there gonna be anything different about this than the regular one? besides the price.
and also by joining what are the auto-x days gonna run $$ wise as opposed to just registering for the events as a non-member??
Thanks for all the help guys!!

Our events run $30 for SCCA members, $45 for everyone else. To my knowledge, First Gear membership is every bit as good as a standard membership, it's just available to those 24 and under. It may be different at a road racing level but for autocrossing, it's fully valid.
Have you attended any of our events as a weekend member in the last 90 days? If so, you can apply up to two of those towards the cost of a membership.

Hey Frank,
Nice stable in your Garage that you posted in your profile.
Yes, the First Gear program is a deal for everyone under 24 years old and like Brandon said you get all of the benefits.
Also, as Brandon mentioned if you attend any Solo/Autocross event as a Weekend Member in the last 90 days you can get $15 toward your member ship up to twice, so you might be able to get you membership for free from previous entries.
The last discount to get is the Member Referral program. All you have to do is put down the name of the member who sparked your interest in SCCA when you send in your application and you will get $15 off your membership.
Like Gary said there are no Chapter dues. Once you are over 24 years old then you will in cure a Regional dues on top of your membership, but you do not have to worry about that for now.
Doing a little calculation on getting a full membership vs running as a nonmember is a $15 difference per event, so after attending the whole autocross season you are out $180 that could have gone towards upgrades on the car;) A little word to our drifters that you guys get your membership $75 and run the 4 events you can save $60 in entry fees making your membership only $15!!
Anyway as you might tell I like numbers and calculations, so if you need me help you justify spending the money for a membership let me know.;)
In review:
Under 24 years old:
$45 membership -$15 referral= $30
Entry to all 12 events as a member: $360
Grand Total for Member: $390
Entry to all 12 events as a Non-Member: $540
Grand Total for a Non-Member: $540
SAVE $150
Over 24 years old:
$65 National membership + $25 Regional membership -$15 referral= $75
Entry to all 12 events as a member: $360
Grand Total for Member: $435
Entry to all 12 events as a Non-Member: $540
Grand Total for a Non-Member: $540
SAVE $105
Hope this all makes sense to you Frank.
