Some may remember that my project MR2 was stolen and beat up pretty well a few months ago. Well I decided to give up on bringing it back to daily driver condition, so this should do the job instead :D

Picked it up Saturday night, spent yesterday driving the long way Los Angelas, through Ojai along the 33... what a blast. Feels and looks brand new.

2001 Miata LS
39k miles
6 Speed Manual

I'm still trying to figure out exactly what options it has but I'm pretty sure it has the sport suspension option, though I know it doesn't have Bilsteins.Still debating what class I want to run it in, probably stock this year :)

Congrats Brandon!! It looks like new. Now you, like me, have to get rid of some of those front wheel drive habits and learn to use that rear end power.

Yes and no... I still have the GTI and it's much more tuned for autocross duty already. I learned to drive in a 240z which I still have also. I equate getting back into a light weight RWD car like putting on your favorite shoes, it just fits and feels right :)

YEE HAH! Welcome to the bright side! :D:D:D Excellent choice, my friend. How many miles? Did you pick it up in LA then drive home via Ojai & 33? Excellent choice on roads also! Just hink, now you qualify to join the Miata club! We're having a Coastal Cruise the end of this month. No wait - you can't do that, it's the same as the banquet.

It's fate is unknown. It's mechanically fine but needs a throttle body to pass smog. It would make a good LeMons car :)

Thanks Ron, has a tad over 39k right now. Bought it in Fresno, just took the super long way to Disneyland for the day, of course the rain started as soon as I hit the fun part but it was still a blast.

What kind of events does the Miata club do?

What kind of events does the Miata club do?What I call drive & eat, eat & drive. Purely social. Mostly interested in shiney-brights more than apexes. If you look at the web site www.sjvmc.net (currently being re-constructed) you'll see the upcoming events.

Here's something you might be interested in, though: Miatas at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca (http://www.miatasatmazdaraceway.com/). This is the 2nd annual. The first last year was in commemoration of the Miata's 20th anniversary. It was such a success, everybody wanted more. I instructed last year and will be doing so again this year.

What year? I'm guessing 1999 or 2000. Who did you buy it from?

Ron that's clearly a 2001. I don't even own a Miata and I know that. You're slipping. ;)

Bryan is correct, I moved the text below that was below the pictures to be above the pictures.

Ron just had a "senior moment" :D (prepared to get flamed by: ric, ron, cliff, etc)Nope - no senior moment. I just missed that important piece of information that Brandon so graciously moved up in the text so us less-observant types can see it. Of course, in my case, boldface would help.

It's hard to read text when there's photos to look at!

I woulda missed it too, Ron.

Tony I was thinking more along the lines of a three person crew: Brandon, Tony, and myself. Of course we could chip in for the safety gear.
What do you think Brandon?;)

Aren't those wheels specific to the 2001 Miata? And the headlight details are different from the 99 spec, at least. I thought it was an '01 and then the text confirmed it.

Those specific wheels are 01-03, the chrome version of them are 01 only.

I know that 01 was the first year for the projector lights, not sure how ling they lasted.

You are very observant, Sherlock, er - I mean Bryan. Actually Bryan, when it comes to differentiating model years, I'm very, very weak. Really. It's just not my thing.

You should ask him about MR2 model-year differences, he's amazing. Was ABS offered that year? How about power steering? How many hard-tops were imported that year? Pretty scary.... :D

BTW, when are you selling your hardtop, Bryan??

That is a nice car. Glad I will see another nb out there besides mine. I believe 2001 and up are standard with abs and with the vvti motor but is only 2hp more. But one good thing is that you have a tubular type header instead of a cast iron one with a precat like the 99-00 ca model.

That just reminds me, did you fix your two? Going to PACNW?

BryanH

Hey Ben, no I still haven't fixed the car... how sad is that? :) I want to make it to PACNW again but who knows. I need to get a job so I can get the car fixed and maybe even swap the turbo. I remember how painful that track is with the lazy CT26. Would love to have a CT20b for next time.
