From what I am hearing on base here is that it is in the red tape process. Josh may have more answers but I check with the contact here on base on a weekly basis. He currently has no new answers to report.

I assume the base is going through the red tape process because I have not heard anything for a while. As soon as anything breaks I will let everyone know.

UPDATE:
I told you it was going to take long! Status up date.
Our base Air Operations Officer is now reviewing the proposal.
It is looking good so far. Meanwhile, is the SCCA interested
in doing a little event in Dec? Would consist of a display
car or two (Must look like a race car) and perhaps a booth also,
as to promote the theme "Race into savings" and other Navy stuff.
However, it would also give the SCCA a chance to get some info
out and get Navy dudes interested in the SCCA.
Glenn My response:
I am sure we could get one or two of our club members to come display there car with our display. What type of event would we be coming to participate? Approximately when in December are you talking?
The club wanted to also offer a charity event for the first event where all profits would go to MWR or something Lemoore NAS related. We figure this would be the best way to start things off.
We are still very interested and we have people up and down the state asking when the first event will be, so we should have a great turnout whenever we can the use of the facility.
Thanks again for the update and please keep me posted about the event in December.

Great news!!! Glad to see that this didn't fall through the cracks.
Josh, if there's anything I can do, I'll make myself available to make sure we secure this site.

Well, what we are going to need is some "Must look like a race car" cars. I am thinking cars with race car paint schemes and a modified motor bay.

I can put the numbers and race wheels on the Z. Might draw some interest due to me being in the military myself. Just a thought.

+1 for anything I can do.
+1 for the shark
+1 for Charlie's Z.
Carlson's Z would be a good choice, also. He helped us out at the consours, he may do it again. Josh, do you have his email?

I will pass on the information as I get it from Lemoore. I am also thinking the A-mod and Carlson's Z. Thanks for the offer Charlie but I am not sure what Glenn is classifying as a race car. I can check with him as you are right the guys on base might recognize you which could be a good thing. Again I will let you guys know as I know.

Is the purpose of us going out there to gauge interest in holding an event there? If so, I think it's important to have a street car there as well. I don't want the guys there to think you must have a race car to compete with us. The majority of the guys there are going to be very similar to Charlie New in my opinion.

Very true Brandon. I will check with Glenn on exactly what he is classifying as a race car. I did get back a response saying it will be a static display.
What do you think about a signature/email list for all of the people we would talk to at the event. I see a two fold deal coming out of doing it. One we get the contact info to remind people when the first event there will be and Two we have a list of names to pass on showing the actual interest.
Tell me what you think.

i think some familiar faces at the display would be a good idea. Like some of the local Navy guys.

It's a work in progress, but our 944 looks sort of like a racecar. Full cage, seats, harnesses, plenty of stickers and numbers.
Just don't ask me for timeslips to prove it is a racecar.
Lemoore is a long haul for me, but I'd be willing to help you guys out if needed to help recruit the "You Too Can Build a Racecar on a Budget" types.
Afer my son had an accident while street racing (luckily no injuries), this car came to be as a project to get him and his high school friends interested in going to the track and get them into off-street racing. But alot of young recruits in the Military go out first thing and buy a high performance car, so I guess it would apply there too.
By the way...my son just enlisted in the Air Force, you think it would be a problem having AF stickers on a car displayed on a Naval Airbase? :D

I got an email back Glenn at LNAS and he approved of the two cars being Ric and Gerald A-Mod along with Charlie's Corvette. He said he would be contacting me shortly with more information so stay tuned.

A Reply from Glenn:
Joshua, the display plan fell apart.
The group doing it has now canceled.
I am currently trying to organize something else.
However, this is not going well either.
On another note, no bad news for holding the auto cross.
No news is good news. I will keep you informed.
