Well after riding in Gary's Red Z06 at the PCA event I was hooked on the Z's and bought one for myself!! Its a 2002 Quick silver Z with 28k miles. I go pick it up on Friday down in L.A. My g/f will be taking over driving duties in the Cobra if it doesn't sell. Looking forward to the next event. Also, what class does the car fall under?

Sorry about the PM but I had not read this post.
Are you going to the drift event with it? RWD and lots of power.
On classing the car. Does it have any mods?

Drift event for sure. The car has no mods as of yet...It will though, just exhaust and intake for now.

Is the intake just a drop in filter element? If not, move towards ASP, OSP, or SM2 :)
That's a nice buy! not a bad choice for handling.

Very nice. I rode in an identical Z06, silver 2002, when it was almost new. The owner was a long time import guy and surprised me by buying the 'vette. One launch to 100 and it instantly became crystal clear what all the hype was about.
Congrats, and I look forward to seeing that thing a bit sideways ;)

For the rest of this season it will be 100% stock. So which class? I want to order some numbers and classing letters but wanted to wait on what you guys say for classing

Which one is it guys?
AS or SS

The correct class would be SS. Try static cling for the numbers and class designators.

Here's where I got the numbers for my car: Solo Performance (http://www.soloperformance.com/). The really neat thing is you can totally customize the look of your stuff.

I would say Gary certainly has "customized the look of his ride" judging from that avatar.

Very true. The only thing the car really needs right now is a good set of track tires. I have been looking for a used pair of R6's for the front and im going to run the Nitto 555R drag radials in the rear.

Question about those drag radial having enough sidewall strength to handle cornering.
If you are looking for cheap used race tires try John Berget Racing Tires.
www.jbracingtires.net (http://www.fresnoscca.com/forums/www.jbracingtires.net)
I got a set of Hoosiers A6 from him for 1/4 of the price of a new set and they had about 50% left of tread left. Call him up and tell him the size you are looking for and he will set you up. Better to try a used tire for less then a new tire for more and then find out you do not like them.

The drag radials on the mustang have held up pretty well so I think thats what im going to stick with. I still will be making about 6-8 1/4 mile passes a year so the DR's will help in that area. I will check out that tire link and hopefully I can come up with something nice.

I've actually seen a Miata, awhile back run on DR. Probably not the most optimum setup, but good enough :)

The best solution is multiple sets of wheels with tires mounted for the specific application. Some additional storage area might be required in the garage. I personally recommend 2-3 sets per car. Have you seen my garage?

This would be the best solution Gary however, the Navy isnt the highest paying job in the world.:( I am currently looking for a set of OEM Z06 wheels for a decent price so I can have a street and track set up.

Thanks, took it to the strip last night and ran a 12.8@116MPH. Not too bad for a bone stock car and crappy tires
