Well, sort of new.... Many of you may have seen me at the February and May Castle Air force Base events last year with my 2007 Toyota Corolla S...
Well anyway, my name is Daniel Bucknell, I'm 20, I live in Merced, and currently attending the University of California Merced here as a Mechanical Engineer. Although my family doesn't like me heading towards this career path, things that interest me are continuing development and maybe being a part of an affordable hybrid/electric sports car.
But anywho, I am going to be far more active this 2012 season that I was last season. Reason being is I was running fully stock. Now, however, I will not. Which brings up the question, which class will I run in?
Lists of modifications to my 2007 Toyota Corolla S:
Engine:
-TODA S2000 Cams w/ lift, 304/10.5mm
-TODA cam gears
-Crower Steel Billet Connecting Rods
-TRD fuel injectors
-Tuned
-Intercooled (TRD) (Used to be turbocharged... need to fix the T12 Garret but no knowledge on rebuilding turbochargers....)
Drivetrain:
-Limited-Slip Differential
-Higher final output ratio (for better low-end acceleration)
-TRD clutch
-TRD pressure plate
Suspension:
-TEIN S Tech lower springs
-Front (tower) and rear 6061 aluminum struts
-TRD anti-roll bar
And I run on Bridgestone Potenza GRID G019s.... I get a lot of criticism on my car for it being a newer generation corolla, but I feel rather attached to it... plus it's my starting autocross car. Still open to criticism. It has a manual transmission, which took me forever to find locally on a decent corolla s.
My other project I've got going on is a Locost. Bascally my set-up is a custom designed coilover kit, and the chassis will be a spaceframe made of 316 steel. The motor I've got right now is a 2009 Pontiac Solstice GXP motor.... However I've yet to find a transmission and drive train for it.... I'm going to make all the body panels out of resin, and I've even CAD'ed and FEA'd a carbon fiber rear wing, front wing, and a front wind splitter. Open to criticism as well on this project.
But yep, this is basically what I've got.
