Good Morning,
I am very interested in getting started in the local chapter. Recently got a car that I do not mind abusing a little- 2000 M Roadster. I am looking at heading down to the next event in Aug, atleast to observe so I can kick myself later for not driving.
I have attended a couple of events down in San Diego many years ago and remebered how muuch fun it was and decided to become a more active participant,

I am shopping for helmets and will be doing a suspension change later this month, not sure if it will be done before the next event or not, if so, may try to enter.

I have not joined the SCCA yet and will most likely do as many recommended, do two events and take the discount.

Looking forward to meeting you all in the near future-
Phil

Hi Philip,
Welcome to the group, I'm sure you'll enjoy your experience. You might want to hold off on the
suspension mods till you find out what is allowed for each class. Don't forget that weekend
memberships are availible till you get a feel for things. I'm sure you'll have a great time and
alot of fun. See ya Sun.

Hey Phil,

The Fresno Chapter also has helmets available to loan you at the event if you don't find a helmet that you like before then.

Thanks all, the suspension mods are more toward strut/ shock spring replacement. The stuff that is currently installed is original and just starting to wear out, so it is time to replace with somethng new. I am not going for a drop but more street/ track ready. I looked at the class sheet, do they also tell me what mods are allowed or is there some place else I should check?
Thanks again

Check the SCCA rule book. It has a detailed description about each class. See sections 13-19

Some people build their cars right up to class spec. to be most competitive while others just build their cars so they are fun to drive, then find the class that they fall under afterward. The approach is up to you!
