As much as I'm always up for some real adventure, there is no way I can make this. But to help others, how about some more info.?

1) Are you driving to New York? If yes, when will you leave?

2) Are you driving back from New Orleans? If yes, when do you expect to return home?

3) How much $$ (expenses) can the navigaor expect?

4) What are you driving?

More info. may help people decide.

The first thing you have to understand about my plan is there is no plan. I have a 1983 ford mustang (Sally), Sally is at my shop in Madera having her transmission, rear axle, drive shaft, shocks, & brakes reworked. Sally's registration is due in May and she has to pass smog this year. If Sally passes smog I will ship her to New Jersey, other wise I'm "giving" her to Matthew, he will register her in Texas and I will drive her back east. I plan (there's that word again) to drive here back to the Left coast after the rally ends in New Orleans (Big Easy). If I have to register her in Texas I was going to leave her with Matthew in San Antonio, and fly back to the left coast. I just put the front suspension back together to day, just brakes & exhaust left to do. If Ruth can't go & plan b Though f don't work, I taking a sign "Navigator needed must have own costume". (what ever it is this year. 2007 it was Elvis, 2008 it was Superman) But I'm running this event this year.

For more info got to the BABE site, and at the top is a link to Street Safari's site. Go to Forums, the BABE preparations thread. Great cars check out the short bus, or the Lincon. (these are East Coast rust buckets)

Finished Sally's 83 to 89 surgery and took her to the alignment shop. Smog by the end of the week.

OK, I need a Navigator/Photographer/Co-driver (this is a photo scavenger hunt, don't bring back the locals just pictures of the locals). This will require six or seven days Starting May 31 on Staten island NY, and ending June 5 in New Orleans (June 6 we are going to a drag strip to race 24 hours of Lemons cars). One day will be costume day (don't know what yet, but the last two were Superman & Elvis). Each day will have tasks that are awarded points, $1500 for top team at end of rally. Check out the Link http://www.baberally.com/index.esp and http://forum.streetsafari.com/ for more info than you would ever need. You will be required to get to NY and back from NO, feed your self, and have your own costume.

" I love it when a plan comes together" Col. H. Smith. Sally passed her smog test and is ready for two more years of motoring. I've posted to the Street Safari Babe rally lonely hearts thread for a navigator. If you are interested please post there. Today I fixed the short that kept the dash light from working & charged the A/C. A week of test driving the she is off to the right coast.

Well I'm getting desperate, I've posted on the Street Safari forum " Lonely hearts club". Some one in Fresno must want to tour Appalachia, in a beat up 1983 Mustang, wearing a costume, taking pictures, off of two lane side roads, and ending at a Brit pub crawl in New Orleans, followed by a drag race with 24 Hours of Lemons cars?????

1) No I'm flying, and shipping the car

2) Yes but after Saturday drags with 24 Hours of Lemons and a wedding in NJ

3) I've got the hotel rooms, the rally was a freebie. So navigator will have to feed themselves & provide their costume.

4) I'm driving Sally a 1983 Mustang GT 5.0 (sort of). Sally was for the Rocky Mountain Run (Another banger rally which was canceled). Last winter she got a major up grade including 8.8" rear axle, T5 5 speed transmission, new & bigger brakes, urethane suspension bushings, new ball joints, new tie rod ends, and shocks. (Well I needed something to do last winter.:D)

The costume has been chosen it is Astronaut, I'm planning on doing the blue jump suit for reasons of comfort. Shipped Sally out Friday. It's different not having a major project pending.

For all those from plan B through Y, you really missed something. You can now decide what that was. The cars, the roads, the challenges, and the fog of battle here they are 200 pictures. (it is easier to view on face book and they are public view). The link is

I believe the picture you titled "British Rust" is an early model B as it has real knock off spinner caps on the wheels. I think 66 maybe 65 or older. I know my 64 had them.

The pictures were worth a lot of laughs. Looks like you had a great time.

Thanks for posting them.

I have it on good authority that we can have an event on this side of the country if we can get 50 "committed" teams. :D PM me if you are interested or wish more information.

Great cars, great roads. A left coast event would be great.
